What this website is for
This website provides general information about Lindsay Chemist and routes to pharmacy and NHS services. It does not diagnose illness and is not a substitute for individual advice from a pharmacist, GP, NHS 111, or emergency services. Always speak to our pharmacist or your GP about your own health and medicines.
What personal data do we collect?
When you contact us — by phone, in person, or through any booking method we offer — to arrange a service such as ordering a repeat prescription, a Pharmacy First consultation, or a flu vaccination, we ask for personal details needed to provide that service safely and accurately. This may include your name, date of birth, contact details, and relevant health information (for example, which medicine you take, or which condition you'd like treated).
Why we collect it, and what we do with it
We use this information to identify you correctly, arrange the service you've requested, keep an accurate pharmacy record, and contact you if needed about that request. We only use it for the purpose you gave it to us for. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing without your separate consent.
Our legal basis for handling this information is that it's necessary to provide the healthcare service you've asked for, and — where health information is involved — for the provision of health or social care under UK data protection law.
Who can see it
Your information is only accessible to our pharmacy team, for the purpose of providing your care. We do not share it with third parties except where we're required to by law, or where it's necessary to deliver your care (for example, confirming details with your GP surgery).
How long we keep it
We keep patient records for as long as required under NHS and pharmacy regulatory retention rules, and no longer than necessary.
CCTV
CCTV, including audio recording, is in operation at Lindsay Chemist for the safety and security of our patients and staff.
Keeping your information secure
We take appropriate steps to keep your personal information secure, whether it's given to us in person, by phone, or in writing.
Cookies and similar technology
When you first visit this site, we ask which types of cookies you're happy for us to use:
- Necessary — always on. Remembers your cookie choice and whether you've closed a banner. Nothing here is shared with anyone else.
- Analytics — off unless you switch it on. Would help us understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.
- Marketing — off unless you switch it on. Would only be used if we run online adverts, to measure and improve them.
You can change your choice at any time using "Manage preferences" in the cookie notice, or by clearing your browser's site data for this website.
The interactive map on our Contact page is only loaded if you choose to click "Show map" — until then, no connection is made to Google Maps. Once loaded, Google's own cookie and privacy policy applies.
Third-party services
This website loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading these may share your device's IP address with Google. No other third-party trackers, analytics, or advertising services are used on this site.
Links to external sites — such as the NHS App, NHS 111, or Google Maps — take you to services we don't control. Their own privacy and cookie policies apply once you leave our site.
External links and accuracy
We link to NHS and other official sources for clinical and service information, and try to keep this website accurate and up to date. We can't guarantee external websites are error-free, and clinical guidance can change — always check with our team or the official NHS source if you're unsure.
Your rights
You have rights over any personal data we hold about you — including the right to see it, ask us to correct it, and in some cases ask us to delete it or restrict its use. To ask about this, contact us directly using the details on our Contact page. You also have the right to raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
